Tweaked Mercedes-AMG G 63 4×4² Is a Few Mods Away From Deploying Freedom

As a matter of fact, make that quite a few mods, because it would also need proper armoring, a machine gun attached to it, a communications system, and a few other bells and whistles. So, that reference only applies to the desert-like look of the exterior, enhanced by the new wheels. And it is the latter part that is the highlight of this Mercedes-AMG G 63 4×4².

Signed by AG Luxury, and shared with their social media followers over the weekend, the alloys are called the AGL77. Made from aerospace grade 6061-T6, the forged aluminum set can be ordered in sizes ranging between 19 and 26 inches, bar the 25 inch option, with standard or concave profile. Custom bolt patterns, offsets, and finishes are available, and it was custom-machined for the Rolls-Royce OEM center caps.

At the time of writing, the company only shared pictures of a single vehicle born at Goodwood that is equipped with this exact wheelset, and as you can probably imagine, it is the Cullinan luxury SUV. Other cars that sit on the same alloys are the Bentley Bentayga, Range Rover, Mercedes-Benz S-Class, and Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, and the pictured Mercedes-AMG G 63 4×4², which is also the most eye-catching in terms of visuals.

This is due to the many upgrades it boasts over the regular G 63, which comprise the portal axles, independent suspension, and improved approach and departure axles, all of which make it a better off-roader overall. The roof rack with a ladder at the rear to access the stuff stored there, extra LED lights mounted above the front windscreen, fender flares, and a few other bits and bobs further set it apart from the non-4×4² version, and make it a more desirable alternative to it.

Opening the door will reveal some other upgrades that further separate the G 63 4×4² from the normal G 63. These include the exclusive upholstery, special startup on the digital dials, and digital rearview mirror. From here on, it is the same bundle of gizmos that you can normally find on the regular version, from the comfort and technology, to the safety systems.

In terms of power, the Mercedes-AMG G 63 4×4² rocks the same twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8. The engine hasn’t been upgraded at all, and it is still rated at 577 hp (585 ps/430 kW) and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque, identical to the G 63. It works in conjunction with a nine-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive, and it is unknown how quick it is to 60 mph (97 kph). Nonetheless, the regular one can deal with the sprint in 4.5 seconds, and has a 137-mph (220-kph) top speed, and since the 4×4² is heavier, it is obviously slower too.

Mercedes-Benz EQG Spied: The Electric G-Wagen Reveals Updated Cockpit

Mercedes’ current electric vehicle family is bound to be expanded with the introduction of several other models. One of them will be a zero-emission version of the G-Class, which has been in the making for a while now, and was previewed by the EQG Concept last year.

Spied on a few occasions, the Mercedes-Benz EQG has now returned to the scoop arena with a new prototype snapped by our man with the cam at an undisclosed location during cold-weather testing, which was kind enough to partially reveal its cabin.

Compared to the normal G-Class, the EQG has an updated center console, with a new touchpad controller surrounded by a few buttons. The area between the central air vents is also new, and it hosts some fresh switchgear, like the button for the G-Turn function, because in case you forgot, the electric G-Wagen will be capable of pulling some Rivian-style tank turns. A ‘Low Range’ button is also visible, and it has a new steering wheel too. The analog clock is gone from the EQG, which might further set itself apart from the regular G-Class by featuring revised upholstery and trim.

Besides providing a glimpse inside, this Mercedes EQG prototype has revealed more of the exterior design, which still retains the boxy shape of the ICE-powered models. However, the grille is different, and has a partially closed-off style, and the front bumper is all new. The same goes for the fender flares, and rear bumper, with the latter sporting a revised central area that houses the license plate holder. The aero wheels are exclusive to it, and they likely help minimize drag, contributing to enhanced range compared to a normal set. Elsewhere, it is the same trippy wrap, with an electron-sipping pattern.

We don’t know much about the powertrain, save for the fact that it will feature a quad-motor setup, with each unit likely driving one wheel. Mercedes spoke of “enormous pulling power” without going into specifics, and chances are that it will dwarf the versions powered by fossil fuels in terms of output, and probably towing capability too. The motors will be fed by a battery pack with an undisclosed capacity, which will be joined by an extended version that holds more energy in the same space, and thus increases the driving range significantly over the stock offering.

In terms of underpinnings, look for a familiar ladder frame chassis, which means that the EQG will still be an off-roading brute. Still, in order to conquer the great outdoors, future owners will have to ditch the stock wheels and go for chunkier rubber. But that’s a different topic altogether, as first we have to wait for them to unveil it, and that will probably happen towards the end of the year, or in 2024. Reports indicate that it will go on sale next year.

Manchester United Star Marcus Rashford Is Selling His Mercedes-AMG G 63 Brabus

Athletes and cars go hand in hand, and soccer players live by that rule as well, buying and selling the most popular models. And Manchester United star Marcus Rashford is now parting ways with his Mercedes-AMG G 63 Brabus.

Soccer players usually buy many cars so they could flaunt them on their way to training or games. And Marcus Rashford, who plays for Manchester United, also checks those boxes.

But it looks like he has decided to part ways with one of his cars, his 2020 Mercedes-AMG G 63 Brabus. Rashford was seen often driving the rugged off-roader to Man United’s Carrington training ground, but all the updates he had gotten thanks to the Brabus package weren’t enough for the G-Wagen to stay in his garage.

The Mercedes-AMG G 63 is a very popular choice among athletes, celebrities, and other car connoisseurs. And, with the Brabus package, which gives it a power boost, it’s even more interesting.

When it drives through the gate of the factory located in Graz, Austria, the G-Wagen has a 4.0-liter twin-turbo engine which sends 577 horsepower (575 ps) and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque to all four wheels via a nine-speed 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission.

But the Brabus 800 package, which is what Rashford got for his G-Wagen, takes it all the way up to around 789 horsepower (800 ps). The additional power helps it be even faster, despite the heavy frame of the boxy model. It can now go from zero to 62 mph (100 kph) in just 3.1 seconds, with a top speed of 200 mph (322 kph). In comparison, the standard G-Wagen needs 4.5 seconds to hit 62 mph (100 kph) and can reach a top speed of 137 mph (220 kph).

The Sun reports the athlete initially paid £667,000 (a bit over $810,000) for his G-Wagen with all its upgrades, but he’s now selling it for more than halfway he paid for, with a price of £299,995 ($365,343 at today’s exchange rate). Rashford was its only owner and it only has 10,933 mi (6,794 km) on the clock.

According to Motorclass, which holds the sale, the G-Wagen is from the 2020 model year. It is wrapped in Satin Black and sports a black interior with the G Manufaktur Black Piano Lacquer trim. It features the Night package, which replaced the regular chrome accents with black ones. It also comes with a sliding sunroof, a carbon interior package and carbon fiber steering wheel, multi-color skylight headliner similar to that of the Rolls-Royce models and rear entertainment package.

The Brabus package includes badging, a carbon fiber hood, and carbon fiber spare wheel cover, plus the aforementioned power boost.

Besides the G-Wagen, over the years, the soccer star has driven an Audi A3, a Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe, a Mercedes-Benz CLA, and a Range Rover Velar.

The reason why he’s probably selling his off-roader is that he recently splashed on two new cars, a McLaren 765LT and a Rolls-Royce Cullinan Black Badge.

2023 Mercedes-AMG G 63 4×4² Hits the Vossen Gym for Leg Day

Shown to the world half a year ago as a continuation of its direct predecessor, with similar mods, the all-new Mercedes-AMG G 63 4×4² has paid a visit to Vossen for some well-deserved upgrades. And you can tell what those are just by looking at the opening pic, can’t you?

That’s right, we are talking about those new wheels and tires. The alloys are called the LC3-01T, and a quick look on the company’s website reveals that they can be ordered in different diameters, measuring from 19 to 24 inches, with respective widths of 8.5 to 13 inches. For the smallest set, you are looking at a minimum of $9,600, before options, and the largest one will set you back at least $11,600.

But what options are those? The numerous finishes, for one, with the wheel maker stating that there are 48 of them available, including the standard Gloss Clear, which does not cost extra. Custom center caps and valve stem caps are additional extras available for the aforementioned set, and they also list the new license plate frames as options. Get ready to spend even more Benjamins on a proper tire set, like the one equipping the pictured car, which can enhance traction once the comfort of smooth tarmac ends.

Following in the footsteps of the G 63 6×6 and G 500 4×4², as well as the G 650 Landaulet, the all-new Mercedes-AMG G 63 4×4² features fender flares, roof-mounted LED lights, full-size spare wheel cover, portal axles for enhanced off-roading, independent suspension, improved approach and departure angles, a very generous ground clearance, and a few other things that further set it apart from the regular G 63 on which it builds. Open the door and you will see leather upholstery, carbon fiber trim, special startup on the digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, digital rearview mirror, and others.

To no one’s surprise, the new G 63 4×4² uses the same engine as the normal G 63. We are talking about the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8, which kicks out an identical 585 ps (577 hp / 430 kW) and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque. It is hooked up to a nine-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to the permanent four-wheel drive system, and as you can expect from something that features many upgrades, and sits further higher off the ground, it is a few tenths of a second slower than its more mainstream sibling. The official performance numbers are still unavailable, yet we reckon that the 0 to 60 mph (0-97 kph) sprint is dealt with in over 5 seconds, considering that the normal G 63 can do it in 4.5 seconds, before running out of breath at 137 mph (220 kph).

This Mercedes-AMG G 63 4×4² Is a Big Bad Wolf Disguised As Little Red Riding Hood

You can emasculate many cars by giving them a red look, but not the Mercedes G-Wagen, regardless of the configuration. This bad 4×4 has maintained its hairy-chested look over the decades, despite being upgraded beneath the skin multiple times, and it truly is one versatile ride that looks just as good cruising Monaco’s streets at it does in the great outdoors, challenging all sorts of arduous terrains.

No matter which version you go for, you cannot go wrong with it. Sure, if money is no concern, then you should settle for nothing less than the Mercedes-AMG G 63, as it boasts enough grunt to almost break the laws of physics. And while you’re at it, you may want to check out the G 63 4×4² too, which is one of the hottest vehicles of the moment, and will probably remain the most versatile version of the series, unless they bring back the apocalyptic 6×6 for the new generation.

Compared to the regular G 63, if we can call a V8-powered brute ‘regular,’ the new Mercedes-AMG G 63 4×4² stands out by featuring a much higher ground clearance, as well as independent suspension, and improved approach and departure angles to better tackle obstacles off the lit path. Portal axles are something that the three-pointed star has grown an appetite for these past few years, and it has these too, next to fender flares, roof-mounted LED lights, a roof rack with rear ladder for easier access to the stuff stored there, and a few other bits and bobs.

Mind you, despite being ready to take on some of the most extreme off-roaders out there, which are still road legal, the Mercedes-AMG G 63 4×4² doesn’t lack the usual comfort, technology, and safety gear. You see, even if you opt for it over a normal G 63, you’d still get leather upholstery, ambient lighting, the MBUX infotainment system, and so on. Still, there is a special startup on the digital instrument cluster, alongside more special upholstery, and a digital rearview mirror, among others.

Power-wise, you are looking at the bi-turbo V8, with 4.0 liters in displacement, which hasn’t been massaged at all over the G 63. Thus, it still develops 577 hp (585 ps/430 kW) and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque, transferred to the four-wheel drive via the nine-speed automatic gearbox. Its straight-line performance is yet unknown, yet it should be slower than the normal G 63, which does the 0-60 mph (0-97 kph) in 4.5 seconds, and can keep pushing up to 137 mph (220 kph).

As for the pictured copy, it made its way to social media a few hours ago, and it boasts a red look, complemented by the black accents on the roof, fender flares, bulbar, grille, and on other parts of the exterior. It rides on new wheels, bigger than the stock ones, which were wrapped in rather chunky rubber, and this appears to be the big novelty here. We don’t know anything about the alloys, as carlifestyle, the Instagram account that shared pictures of it online, hasn’t said anything about it, and that’s more than alright you see, because you are still looking at one serious off-roader, one that manages to wear that red finish with pride. So, if you could afford a G 63 4×4², what color would yours be?
